In this very special UX edition, we have a panel of design industry leaders to talk about career progression for Designers.

Topics of discussion will include:
- Imposter syndrome
- Portfolio’s
- Where to find opportunities and finding companies who invest in their talent
- How to land that dream job in UX Design

Orbis Connect are hosting this event in partnership with our friends at General Assembly.

Denise Chippindale
Marketeer by Day, Curator by Night! @ General Assembly & Anxious as Anything


Chip is the new kid to London. As a trained visual designer now in marketing she has wide experience in both the tech, design and marketing industry. Spending 3 years in design, she decided to make the switch to marketing and partnerships. Chip heads up the marketing team at General Assembly and has loads of insights in transitioning into a different career.

Amongst her 'normal role' she has hosted The Design Kids for a whopping 3 years has allowed her to meet some incredible creatives, students and work alongside Sydney's best agencies. She has now created a friendly hub of mental health resources called Anxious as Anything. Check it out!

Rodica Marvan-Harrison
Lead UX/UI Designer @ Onyx Capital Advisory


Rodica is a Lead UX/UI Designer at Onyx Capital Advisory, a cutting-edge trading and brokerage firm with the mission of digitising and democratising the oil swaps market. Rodica has extensive experience designing for Financial Services and takes a particular interest in products with complex data. Rodica has previously worked for a global investment bank and clients such as Aviva Investors.

Outside of her role, Rodica is a mentor for ADPList where she provides guidance to fellow designers as they navigate their careers.

Ashley Janelle
UX Coach, User Interface (UI) Designer @ Caterpillar Inc


As a seasoned User Experience and User Interface Designer, Ashley Janelle focuses on designing customer cantered experiences that target her users everyday challenges. At Caterpillar Inc., Ashley taps into user needs while designing solutions that allow them to save time, money, and increase their productivity.

As a UX coach and course creator, she’s developed an online course, “Learn UX Online in 16 Weeks” to help aspiring UX designers go from beginner to experienced UX Designers to land jobs at top companies. Using her UX expertise and passion for working with people, Ashley’s not only helped others land their dream roles but build the confidence to become successful UX Designers.

Ana Bernardo
Senior UX Designer @ Red Badger


Ana is a human-centred designer, with a passion for design education and design thinking. She has worked in small start-ups as a UX design team of one, as well as in big corporations part of a big design team. Some of the brands she has worked for are Barclays, BT, Kurt Geiger and Nando’s. Currently she is a design consultant, experimenting with Just in Time UX Design and understanding how you can add research and data driven decisions to fast paced digital product development projects. She is passionate about design education and the power of design - design is not only for designers!
